Useful Terminology and FAQ!!

  • Hey, what about movies like Split? Aren't you/I in danger of your headmates lashing out?

    As a matter of fact, no. Split is completely inaccurate and DID is used as a plot device. However the real life condition isn't actually dangerous or anything to speak of like that, so, like most movies, it's twisted to make the plot better. Please, please take into mind the fact that movies and media turn mental illnesses into playthings for the entertainment of the viewer and for high ratings. People with DID and schizophrenia are not dangerous at all, they are people who deserve respect and friends just like you, and if anything they need support.

  • What is a trigger?

    DID is a condition caused by trauma. Therefore, things that contributed to this trauma (or anything listed as a trigger) can result in intense panic attacks. Okay, but what do I do? Glad you asked! If it's specified as a phrase, please avoid saying it to the person at all, or around them. If it's a name, same thing goes. In summary, please refrain from mentioning or speaking about these things to us or around us.

  • Okay, so what's a front trigger? Does it also cause panic attacks?

    Not necessarily. Okay, so here's the difference. A trigger causes panic attacks and should be avoided. A front trigger is a phrase, situation, or media that causes a headmate to front for one reason or another. It doesn't matter which member the front trigger is mentioned around, it will still cause the member with the front trigger to come to front. If you'll look back at the member sheet, you'll see that after the first "front triggers" there's a (+) symbol next to it. This indicates that the said thing is a positive trigger, and will trigger said member to front because they want to hear about it more closely, or take part in it. On the other hand, front triggers marked with (-) are negative front triggers, which means that if this content is mentioned, they will front out of wanting to protect themselves, or out of fear, or sadness, or some other negative reason.

  • Why do you have associated emoticons listed in your headmates' descriptions?

    When a proxy bot is not available (such as when we are talking outside of a Discord server), these emoticons are used to depict who is speaking so that the other person will not get confused at sudden personality switches.

  • What is a typing quirk? What does NV/SV mean and why is it listed as one?

    A typing quirk is a way that a headmate types that is different from normal. For example, Core types in the style of a "narration box" with hints of programming seen at the bottom. NV stands for Non-Verbal and SV stands for Semi-Verbal. Non-Verbal means that the headmate does not talk or type, rather they communicate via emoticons. Semiverbal headmates have a limited vocabulary, but are still able to form short sentences. Please treat them with the same respect as a normal person.

  • What does Executioner mean? Does it mean that they're dangerous?

    No! In fact, it just means that they like to put their opinion into arguments or be a part of them when possible!

  • What does "insourced" mean and is Core/N-1 Endogeny?

    No, they simply chose that profile because it's closest to what they look like in headspace. Insourced means an introject which came from a source created by someone within the system. In this case, it's the host's.

  • Oh my god!! is in your system!? Can I-

    Let me stop you right there bud. Introjects are way more than their source. They're their own person, and while it may feel like an opportunity to talk to your favorite character IRL, this is not the case. All introjects should be treated as their own person and no less than such. This is not to say that you can't compliment them or try to befriend them at all, just please try to avoid fangirling and hoarding them.
