Small spaces scream for vertical storage! Check out some of my favorite low-profile, high-impact solutions.

• the hooks

  I love this very slim profile coat hook. They swivel and can bear the weight of heavy winter coats.

  The elfa door and wall racks are the best for the inside of closet doors. Inside the coat closet we have scarves, sneakers, hats and bags

• the command center

  Every entryway needs a place to drop keys and a mirror to make sure there's nothing in your teeth when you head out the door. This wall-mounted unit opens in the front to store essentials like gloves and sunglasses

  This was a fun piece to find that ties in with the circles of the entry rug, the lamp, and the chairs. The overall organic vibe of the mirror complemented the architecture outside the window

  A perfect way to have all you need to do the laundry within easy reach. Extra room for cleaning supplies too.

With the Brooklyn Bridge and downtown skyline as the centerpiece of your living room, form and function have to become your main priorities.

• the sofa

  We started with this piece and worked around it. Comfortably seats 4-5, has 2 hidden storage compartments and folds open to a full-sized bed. The lamp and bird pillow moved cross- country. I chose the acrylic table to keep the room from feeling cluttered, the round edges softening the space. The barely there perfect grey kitchen stools are camouflaged by the kitchen peninsula and the sofa. We chose another rug that was back-ordered. It was truly a sign that it wasn't the right one. This multicolored treasure is like an impressionistic reflection of the city.

  Again - a reminder that when ordering something becomes difficult, the universe has a better option for you. We found gorgeous stools at West Elm that had this circular shape that we fell in love with. They were on the website but out of stock everywhere with no date of being restocked. I found these beauties that were less than 1/4 of the price of the others at Target and they swivel, creating more seating for the living room.

  Honestly, I picked these swivel chairs for me. I adore the color and was in love with the idea of having a front row seat at the window. Instant romance, just killer. Truly expressing my love for Brooklyn and the skyline.

• the entertainment

  I really do appreciate elfa shelving for so many reasons. The flexibility is unparalleled and it solves storage issues simply and beautifully

• the cozy

  This blush color sort of introduced itself on its own. We originally ordered a tan blanket like this from an Instagram ad. It turned out to be a scam!! It was nuts, but AmEx refunded and the BBB is a great place to find out 27 other people reported the same scam. I found this beauty on Etsy and it's the perfect color.

  What a fabulous project. It was fun, easy, satisfying and as with all my jobs, I learned a lot.

bedroom

Clever storage in what would have been dead space in the room leaves this bedroom feeling spacious.

• the bed

  We chose this combination specifically for my client's needs. The base has 6 huge drawers ( I believe 3 are still empty!) which are a great way to store seasonal items and extra bedding. The headboard is attached to the wall and has floating nightstands and bins for your bedside reading. We added clamp lights and got a "smart" power strip that allows my client to turn off the lights with her phone. Oh, technology!

  The transformation of this blank wall is nothing less than incredible. The shoes are technically behind the bedroom door, so they are out of sight when looking into the room. The drawers hold personal effects and the built-in mirror allows my client to see the gorgeous view as she's getting ready

• the sunset

  While this has nothing to do with me, it is gorgeous to see. We kept the room white and grey so the view would pop any time of day

bathroom

  With the bathroom storage at a minimum, this empty space was crying for use.

  We stacked 2 wall-mounted cabinets that were simple enough to blend in and not create obstructions in the space

  Plenty of room for toiletries and surplus

• the storage stool

  Poppin makes these amazing multifunctional treasures. They are strong enough to sit on and the lid is cushioned. Great for extra storage or as a hamper. When not in use it can be folded away to the size of just the lid! Also provides extra seating in the living room for large gatherings.

  this simple shower curtain provides the perfect pop to play off of the stool. Again with gray and white, having an accent color brings life into the small space without being overwhelming.
