The Internet's Best Humor Sites

• The New Yorker's Shouts & Murmurs

  If you're looking for smart, topical humor, The New Yorker's humor section's got you. Most of these pieces are online only, so even if you read the magazine every week, you should check out this vertical for extra laughs.

• McSweeney’s

  McSweeney's is the holy grail of internet humor. A long-running literary magazine with an impressive pedigree, it publishes intelligent, hilarious pieces (almost) every day from famous writers and those who are just starting out alike.

• The New York Times' Loose Ends

  You may not even know that the paper of record has a humor section, but it does -- and it manages to be as high-brow as one would expect while being much weirder than anyone would ever expect. Humor pieces appear only intermittently in the Sunday paper, but you can read them all online here anytime you want!

• Reductress

  It's hard to believe it took this long for a site devoted to mocking women's magazines to come along, but I'm glad it did because Reductress is perfect. The only similarity between this site and the magazines it satirizes is that they'll both make you cry -- one for feeling inadequate and the other from laughing so hard. I'll let you figure out which is which.

• The Onion

  Still the gold-standard of internet satire, the Onion continues to brilliantly make fun of the news in the age of Trump, although these days, it can be disturbingly hard to tell their headlines apart from real news. The first clue it's not real journalism is that it'll make you laugh instead of cry -- the second is that it'll likely be positioned next to some bizarre, completely random headline about local geese.

• ClickHole

  The Onion's even stranger little cousin manages to expertly satirize a specific kind of internet content: clickbait. Here's a sample headline you'll never see on Buzzfeed: "The 5 Best Pupils In My Swim Class For Badgers." Always weird, always wonderful.

• Slackjaw

  Another brilliantly funny humor site, Slackjaw publishes a range of writers pondering a wide-variety of topics, from canceled weddings to harrowing investigations into whether falling food is more appealing than stationary food, you never know what you'll find, but it'll definitely make you laugh.

• Splitsider: The Humor Section

  While mostly known for being the #1 source for comedy-related news, Splitsider also has an excellent and aptly-named humor section. The featured writing is as funny and intelligent as one would expect from the cousin site of the dearly departed Awl.

• The Belladonna Comedy

  This new(ish) satirical site features charming, funny humor written by and for women. It covers everything from female anxiety to the daily itinerary of an apple (yeah, you read that right).

• Little Old Lady Comedy
